The assembled device needs a battery to run. During the disassembly of the mobile device or afterwards, the PCB board needs power for diagnostics and to find shortages. For Example, if a mobile phone is submerged in water and won’t turn on, the likely cause is water damage. The only way to check the damage is through a visual inspection with a microscope. Once you see it, the power supply must complete the inspection and diagnosis by pointing out shortages in micro components on the board. A good-quality power supply will make the job easier. Diagnosis plays a key role in repairing or finding the fault in the mobile device. So, you must keep a power supply in your Lab. Below is a list of commonly used power supplies in mobile repairing Labs.

  1. Sugon SG-3005 PM: It is used by many high-profile mobile technicians. It’s very affordable, long-lasting, and environmentally friendly. Based on my personal experience, I would recommend buying this power supply. Since Sugon provides direct support, you can easily book spare parts or get support from the company directly.
  2. Sunshine P2 Pro: Sunshine is not as good as Sugon, but it is more cost-friendly. I have not used this power supply, so I can’t recommend it. Both machines share similarities, but they also have many differences. For instance, Sugon SG-3005 PM has six built-in USB mounts, whereas Sunshine only has four. In other words, Sunshine is second best in Power Supplies.
  3. YCS 3060: This is very cost-friendly, but not highly recommended. Above all, it has a 6A power output, which Sugon and Sunshine don’t have. Another negative thing about YCS 3060 is that it lacks customer or factory support.

3. Desoldering Station:

A desoldering station is a crucial tool for mobile repair. All components on the circuit board are soldered, which requires heat for desoldering. Micro components require very accurate heating for disassembly from the circuit board. Therefore, the heat coming out of the desoldering tip should be correct. Otherwise, it will cause damage and desolder other components, causing a big mess. You should always choose a desoldering station that has precise temperature control and doesn’t produce any air fluctuations. We speak of an affordable, high-quality, and long-lasting desoldering station that comes in handy whenever you need it. Below is a list of descoldering stations commonly used in mobile repair labs.

List of Desoldering Mobile Repairing Tools:

  1. JBC CS Station: JBC is the #1 brand in mobile repairing tools. High precision, durability, compatibility, and worldwide support make JBC the best choice in the desoldering station. In other words, it’s a lifetime deal buying a tool from JBC. The only negative thing about JBC is that they are costly. Therefore, very few people purchase tools from JBC. In other words, it is a highly recommended product, but it’s not cost-friendly.
  2. Quick 861 Pro: With competitive prices and features, it is more popular than JBC. It has voice command features to save time and maintain focus while working on a circuit board. For instance, you are dealing with a NAND component on the circuit board of an iPhone, a crucial part of the device, and you want to adjust the temperature of the air blowing out of the desoldering station’s tip. Just give the command, and it will take care of the rest. In other words, they have reduced manual operations while repairing.
  3. Sugon 8610d Plus: This workstation is a competitor of the Quick 861 Pro. Sugon 8610d Plus is very cost-friendly as compared to both JBC and Quick. The Sugon 8610d Plus is my recommendation, as I’ve used it for quite a while now. It’s the best mobile repairing tool to keep in your Lab.

4. Soldering Station:

Mobile repairing tools are incomplete without a soldering station in your Lab. In other words, it is the most crucial tool in your Lab whenever you remove a component from the circuit board. After that, you need a soldering station with a very nice tip to remove the solder from the points on the circuit board. As a result, reballing and soldering of the component will be successful without any shortages. If you don’t clean the points on the circuit board appropriately, you won’t achieve the desired result. Above all, it gives you the ability to work on minimal parts of the circuit board. Furthermore, it is convenient in many other tasks in addition to mobile repairing. Companies assemble mobile devices with different types of special micro screws, that’s why technicians require special micro high precision screwdrivers to perform the job. Without these screwdrivers, you can’t disassemble the device. In addition, you might damage the screws when you use some alternative tools that are not fit to perform the job. You must always keep a group of good quality screw drivers in your mobile repair lab. Some special screw drivers are available to perform the job and below is a list of those tools.

  1. Qianli iThor 3d: Magnetic quality with high precision and accurate operation. It has a bearing at the grip of the driver, which provides support while disassembling the device.
  2. Qianli iFlying 3d: Identical to its predecessor, Qianli iFlying has almost the same features. However, the price difference is significant. It is much cheaper than Qianli iThor 3d.
  3. 2uul Screwdriver Set: 2uul is the main competitor in Screw Drivers with Qianli. If you’re on a budget, you can get the same thing at a lower price.

6. Mobile repairing Digital Multimeter:

Right after disassembling and visually analysing the circuit board, you will need a multimeter to diagnose problems. The concept of using a multimeter comes from its capabilities. For Example, they are capable of finding short circuits, resistances, and measuring incoming and outgoing voltages. A digital multimeter plays a significant role in mobile repairs, and many mobile repairs are not possible without it. A good-quality multimeter is a necessary tool to keep in your mobile repair lab. Have a look at the list of Digital Multimeters commonly used.

  1. Fluke 15 b+ and Fluke 17 b+: Both the Fluke 15 b+ and Fluke 17 b+ variants are very popular among other mobile repairing tools. Thermal checking is the main difference between the two variants. These are battery-powered portable devices that can be carried anywhere.
  2. Klein Tools Multimeter.
  3. Amprobe 35XP-A Digital Multimeter.
  4. Sunshine Multimeter.

7. Preheater:

A preheater is a device used to separate boards during repairs, mainly for Apple and Samsung devices. The majority of iPhone and Samsung devices have a double-layered board. Therefore, a preheater is required to separate both layers. In most cases, technicians use desoldering stations to perform this task, but it can be hazardous. As a result, you might overheat the CPU or any other components on the board. Preheater focuses on providing heat to the outer parts of the layers. Therefore, it will solder or desolder only the targeted area on the board. A preheater is an essential repair tool, and sound technicians always keep one on hand. List of commonly used preheaters in below.

  1. Mechanic Preheater: Mechanic preheaters are cost-efficient and do the job perfectly. Additionally, we get heating molds that support almost all mobile brands. Based on personal experience, it is highly recommended that you buy one and keep it in your laboratory.
  2. WL Preheater: If your lab receives more iPhone devices for repairs, you should always look for a WL preheater. WL provides support for iPhone devices, and its mobile repair tool is very popular among iPhone repair technicians. WL Preheater is a bit expensive, but it’s a one-time investment.
  3. Sunshine Preheater: Also a good option but mainly focused on universal mobile devices.
